The Project - Perth Women and Babies Hospital

Webuild is delivering the design and construction of the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Western Australia.

This landmark project will replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital, expanding services and choice for women, newborns and families while delivering long-lasting benefits and a positive legacy for the people of Western Australia.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project/Area Manager to lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of assigned work packages within a major project environment.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of project outcomes. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors and suppliers, and work closely with engineering, procurement, supply chain, major work area across Fit-outs, commercial and construction teams to achieve project objectives.

This role requires a strong leader with extensive construction experience, a proven ability to manage programme, productivity, safety, quality and stakeholder relationships, and a commitment to delivering projects on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and successful delivery of the fit-out component a major hospital (New Build), ensuring safety, quality, cost and schedule objectives are achieved.
• Experience in Building specialising in Commercial, hospital or medical research Projects.
• Provide leadership to immediate team including Engineers and Supervisors, subcontractors and stakeholders to drive a collaborative and high-performing project environment.
• Take overall accountability of the fit out of the project including delivery programme, productivity and construction planning activities to support successful project delivery.
• Champion health, safety and quality standards and ensure compliance across all project activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, supply chain and commercial teams to achieve project objectives and resolve delivery challenges.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks and implement strategies to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Complete all construction planning and methodologies for assigned work element.
• Take the lead role in initiating bespoke outcomes to issues that would otherwise cause delays to programme.
• Lead the team in implementing industry best practises for safety and quality across your assignment work elements.
• Develop buildability strategies of the proposed design and develop design documentation to ensure quality expectations are achievable
• Support and promote a culture and agreed behaviours in HSE and Quality by setting clear standards and acting as a role model to others
• Prepare/develop project specific Quality Management Plan in line with Company processes and procedures, including involvement in both internal and external audits.
• Understands Industrial Relations obligations, impacts and issues and contribute to resolution as requested.

What You Will Bring

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Construction White Card and current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Minimum 10 years' construction experience, including at least 5 years in Project Management or a senior construction leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience delivering major building, infrastructure or engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, programming, productivity and project controls.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Experience working within Tier 1 construction environments and managing complex project delivery requirements.
• Strong commercial acumen, including experience managing subcontractor, procurement and client interface activities.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
